Transit trip in Helsinki, Finland

A transit trip in The Land of a Thousand lakes

This is a short transit trip in the land of a thousand lakes.
I used to think about traveling here when I was a student at University.
Because I have a few friends who live there. However, I never made it until now.
But only one day visiting one friend here and walking around the city.
I think it was enough. Helsinki is a small city and doesn't really have
many things to do like in Paris. But other part of Finland.
there are something very interesting to do for example to see
the northen lights. And this is still a future plan for me to see that.

Finland is bordered by the Baltic Sea, Gulf of Finland, and Gulf of Bothnia
with Sweden to the west and Russia to the east. The capital city in Helsinki.
The city was founded by King Gustavus Vasa of Sweden (Which Finland belonged
to for many centuries) Swedish is also one of the official language here.

Another fun city in Netherlands

My friend picked me up at the airport and we took a bus to the city center.
I forgot the price of the bus but it was not that expensive.
If you know how to take a bus here. I think it will be easier for you to
get around. One of the most famous products from this country that people
definitely know is Nokia. But there are many well known things too
for example The Moomins, Finlandia vodka, Angry Bird game and etc.
Helsinki is not a popular destination for tourists but however, there
are many people who want to move here due to a lot of reasons.

Finnish people are warm, open and sincere. What I experienced so far
they are mostly like that. Many of them are not into unnecessary talking
unlike Thai peole. So you will see that they are silent but not deaf.

It took less than an hour to Helsinki Central Station.
The city center was lively with many local and tourists walking.

In the city center

I was on the day that they have a public concert. So I went there
to take a look. But since I don't know Finnish, I can only shake my head ,body
and enjoy with the rhythm.

We walked to another famous landmark which is called "Helsinki Cathedral"
It is the big white church and the icon of Helsinki.

You willl see a lot of young people sitting on stairs at the square
in front of the church and will be more in summer.

Helsinki Cathedral

Port of Helsinki is not far from the church. There are a lot of cruises here.
My friend told me that there is a daily route to Stockholm from Helsinki.
There is everything on the cruise that you can enjoy.
However, I cannot make it this trip. But if I have a chance to come back.
I might do it.

My flight today will be very late at night. Actually, I really want
to explore more places here. But I was really tired. So I decided just to
go to my friend's house and take a rest instead of walking around.

Even though this trip is a very short trip. But it was good.
At least I know what to do for next time If i have to revisit.
and I can plan wisely if I want to make a cruise trip from here
to Sweden or to see the northen lights.

What should you know before coming here?

icon.gif (941 bytes)1.I really have no idea what to suggest you since I was here just
for a short transit. Well, try to take a bus to the city center then.
It is an easy way to do.
